East Boston Main Streets invites the public to the 21st Annual Taste of Eastie at the Hilton Boston Logan Airport Hotel on Thursday, January 26th, 2017 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Food and fun highlight this wonderful evening including raffles and auctions. 

Over 30 local food merchants will showcase their delicious cuisine, including tastes from South and Central America, the Mediterranean, China, the Middle East, and Italy. 

Tickets are $30.00 ($35.00 at the door) and can be purchased online at https://tasteofeastie2017.eventbrite.com or in person at MP&CO at 36 Maverick Sq. or the Main Streets office at 154 Maverick Street, as well as at the Maverick Market Cafe at 154 Maverick St.

East Boston Main Streets Highlights Acoustic on Main August 14-23

(EASTBOSTON – August 10, 2015)– Back by popular demand, East Boston Main Streets invites East Boston businesses to participate in “Acoustic on Main,” a 10-day event in East Boston’s Main Streets District celebrating and promoting local small businesses and musical performers. 

Beginning Friday August 14th through Sunday August 23rd, 10 am - 10 pm, all Main Streets small businesses are invited to host acoustic performances with up to 5 instrumental or vocal performers - no need to apply for a live entertainment license and no fees. The hours have been expanded from the last time we did this to encompass more daytime performance opportunities (brunch anyone?), and coincide with several great retail events including The Sales Tax holiday (Sat & Sun, August 15-16)

"We are excited to enliven our Main Streets districts with music to support our local businesses while also supporting our local musicians," said Mayor Walsh. "Consider shopping locally and taking in a performance during Acoustic on Main and empower our neighborhoods to thrive."

Businesses and musicians who wish to participate can register at the Acoustic on Main website (http://www.cityofboston.gov/acousticonmain/), and businesses hosting events are also welcome to submit those events to the City of Boston’s online calendar.  As the schedule develops, members of the public are encouraged to follow and engage with the event using #AcousticOnMain.

Pirandello Scholarship Drive hosts Wine Tasting Event Nov. 16

Join  Pirandello Lyceum for it’s first Wine Tasting event to support the Pirandello’s Scholarship Fund.  

President Rosario Cascio is extending an invitation to all members and non members  who like to enjoy good company, good food, good music and good wine.  We have a limited  number of tickets available.
 
“ This is our first Wine Tasting, “ said President Cascio, “ and it’s certain to be a hit with those who appreciate good  talian wine. “
 
However, said Cascio, the number of tickets is limited so individuals planning on attending should make reservations early.
 
The event will be held on November 16, 2014 at Spinelli’s in East Boston, from 4 – 7 P. M. and will feature wines from Friuli ( Pighin Refosco and Sauvignon)   and wines from Piemonte (Ca' Rapulin Barbera d'Asti and Moscato d'Asti). Jean Paul Onofri and Tino Valdesolo will be presenting and describing the wine’s origin and unique characteristics. 

Refreshments and Italian music will make the evening enjoyable.

October is Italian-American Heritage Month: Kickoff tonight

A grand ceremony will kick off a month-long series of Italian-related events and happenings all across the Commonwealth.  

The ceremony will celebrate the impact Italian culture and language have had and continue to have in American society. 

The evening’s master of ceremonies will be Radio Hall of Famer Ron Della Chiesa.  

The evening’s honorees include State Rep. Angelo Scaccia (D-Readville), who serves the Commonwealth since 1973; retired Judge Joseph V. Ferrino, founder of Italian-American Heritage Month; and Pamela Donnaruma, publisher and editor of the Boston Post-Gazette, one of the country’s oldest ethnic newspapers and a recent addition to Washington D.C.’s Newseum. 

An In Memoriam award will be given to the late Gov. Argeo Paul Cellucci and will be accepted on his behalf by his wife Janet Cellucci.

Festival Celebrating Columbian Independence scheduled for Suffolk Downs on Sunday, July 21

East Boston Columbus Day Parade Committee Jail Day 2010

On Friday September 17, 2010 volunteers from East Boston will hold a Jail Day fundraiser.

(East Boston, MA.- September 5, 2010) Volunteers from the East Boston Columbus Day Parade Committee along with officers from the Suffolk County Sheriffs Department and Boston Police will round up local residents and merchants to raise funds for this years’ Columbus Day Parade.

Offenders caught smiling; cleaning up the streets or being good neighbors can be detained at the Central Square Jail on Friday September 17th between 11 am and 3 pm. To obtain a warrant and have someone arrested contact Clark Moulaison at 617.561.1044 or email at ebmainstreets@verizon.net. Warrants are $20.00 made payable to Columbus Day Parade.

This year's Columbus Day Parade will step off from Orient Heights at 1 PM travel down Bennington Street to Chelsea Street to Maverick Square and turn down Meridian Street into Central Square.

Marching bands from all over New England, Military and Civic groups will make this years parade special. Chief Marshall John Cotter along with Civic Chairman Joe Ruggeiro, Parade Chairman Buddy Mangini and Producer Joe Kehone is asking for your help.
